Criterion .308 AR match grade barrels are designed for DPMS, Remington, Bushmaster, and FA pattern rifles. These barrels feature an M4 barrel extension and M118 LR match chamber compatible with both 7.62×51 NATO and .308 Win ammunition. Offered in a mid-weight Hybrid contour, these barrels are manufactured from 416R Stainless Steel or 4140/4150 Chrome Moly Steel (for chrome lined models only). Chambers are finished, but barrels should be headspaced and installed by a qualified gunsmith.
Please note that although many .308 AR bolt manufacturers advertise their bolt as compatible with DPMS pattern .308 AR rifles, lug and bolt face tolerances often vary widely between different manufacturers (as opposed to the AR-15, where there is a uniform industry standard). Criterion barrels are gauged at the factory with Fulton Armory .308 AR bolts. We have also had success in demo rifle testing with bolts from DPMS and JP Enterprises. I needed better accuracy than my out of the box DPMS LR308 gave me. The first ten shot 100yd group (discounting the very first fouling cold shot) measured 1.1″!!! Average before the barrel change was 2.2″. I now have the demonstrated accuracy necessary to take those 400yd feral hog shots that present themselves in central Texas ethically and with confidence. I first ordered the barrel from Optics Planet but that vendor is very deceptive. The website said “in stock” but as soon as I ordered it I got an email that said “Backordered 6-10 week delivery”. MSR was honest and straight shooting, I am very pleased with the my purchase.
