Description
The AR-15 and .308AR were not intended to be opened by the user with great frequency. Increased use translates into increased wear on the upper receiver’s takedown pin hole. Cross Armory’s PIN PAL transfers the rotational wear from a steel pin bearing on the aluminum receiver to a steel pin bearing on a pre-lubricated MIL-SPEC metal bearing, keeping your gun as tight as it was from the factory.
FRONT TAKEDOWN PIN REPLACEMENT – in heavily regulated states AR rifle owners are now opening their receivers with great frequency. A more durable pin system is needed to prevent undue wear on the forward pivot point – the upper receiver’s take down pin hole
LUBRICATED CAPTIVE BEARING REDUCES WEAR – standard steel front takedown pins bear directly on the holes in the aluminum receivers. PIN PAL bears on a lubricant infused bearing
FITS ANY STANDARD AR-15, AR-10 or .308AR CONFIGURATION – easily installs on virtually all AR style weapons. The Captive Bearing can be press fit into any upper receiver without special tools
WON’T PERMANENTLY ALTER YOUR WEAPON – If you decide to go with a different setup on your weapon, PIN PAL is easily removed and returned to the manufacturer’s factory set-up
4140 ORDNANCE STEEL – our front takedown pin is machined from 4140 steel with a melonite hard-coating for durability. Our MIL-SPEC Captive Bearing is made from oil-infused, porous metal for reduced friction
The Cross Armory PIN PAL is designed to reduce or eliminate that wear that will be caused by the repeated opening and closing of the upper and lower receivers, as now required by so-called assault weapon laws in states like California, New York, New Jersey and other states. The gun manufacturer never intended that the aluminum receivers should be frequently pivoted on a steel front takedown pin. This action will cause accelerated wear on the through-hole in the receiver causing the hole to expand and elongate. Fitment of the upper and lower receivers will become sloppy, making your weapon less dependable. Replacement of an upper receiver is an expensive proposition.
PIN PAL includes a pin, a locking nut and a MIL-SPEC captive bearing. The pin and nut are machined from 4140 Ordnance Steel for extreme durability. The custom machining of the assembly allows PIN PAL to be built to very tight tolerances.
The MIL-SPEC captive bearing is made from an increase iron content porous metal that is stronger and more resistant to shock loads than standard oil-embedded bearings. Start-up friction (e.g. separating the receivers) causes the captive bearing to release a thin layer of oil on the bearing’s surface.
PIN PAL is a simple and inexpensive solution to eliminate the wear of a standard steel takedown pin on the softer aluminum upper receiver. It’s bad enough that legal gun owners have to separate their receivers in order to reload. It will be far worse if an upper receiver has to be replaced as a result.

This relieves all the stress on the front take down area! Haven’t had any issues with it at all. Worth the buy if going the restricted state compliance route.

Brass part pressed in half way and got stuck. Had to press back out, part damaged. needs different class of fit , or different procedure to install. Freeze brass part

This item is a definite plus if you have to open your action constantly to remove your mag. It transfers the strain from the gun to this piece so you don’t wear out your expensive upper!

Very fast…very happy.

I recently installed the Cross Armory Pin Pal on two AR15’s together with their Quick Pins and Safe Mag2 devices. The Pin Pal works great, it is easy to install and provides added reinforcement to the “pivot hole.” MSR Arms was a pleasure to work with and was extremely responsive to my follow-up questions.

Sorry But it didn’t fit my SIG 716 308. Will use them on another rifle if i can.

I installed the pin pal along with AR Maglock and Quick pins to bring one of my AR’s hopefully into California compliance. All parts installed easily and seem to work like a charm! Now when I travel into California with this AR I’ll feel as if I’m legal and still have a efficient way to change those tiny 10 round mags. Thanks MSR

I have the Voltor MUR 1A upper and the pin pal does not fit. This upper is mil spec and currently the pin pal is halfway in and currently stuck. I followed the instruction video but still had the issue.
