The backside where it meets the web of your hand has two corners that made it very uncomfortable to hold. I wasn’t super happy with the feel, so I rounded it off with a file and reannodized it and now it does feel comfy although a bit thick with 1911grip panels. You will almost definitely need to modify your grip panels for the safety selector. I use a 45° safety and I still beveled it since the grips stick out so far they were basically the same height.

I’m happy with it now but it’s just not a great out of the box experience.

First, don’t make the same mistake I made of purchasing the un-annodized raw aluminum version. Since I was planning on painting it I thought I’d save some money but the metal is so soft that it easily dents and chips the paint. Second it’s stupid that these things aren’t threaded for standard 1911 bushings. The 6-32 screws are bland/ugly and more importantly slip through the standard holes of the grip panels I have. Now I have to pay for a $30-40 tap to thread these 6/32 holes to the standard size. Why oh why aren’t these threaded for standard bushing that you can buy cheaply on Ebay? Most of these problems was my fault for not thinking the details through but I suggest that you make sure how you are going to use these before ordering.

I read the other reviews about the screws but was at least expecting the black screws the picture shows, which may have been acceptable. Mine came with standard zinc phillips head screws that would look terrible no matter what grips you put on. Also, the screws are too long and run into the mounting tab on the bottom of the lower receiver. Bottom line, grip is fine (fits lower, good build quality) but you need to plan on trimming whatever 1911 grips you use so they look right with the shape of the pistol grip, as well as purchasing the 1911 bushing tap so you can use standard screws. On the positive side, this was my first purchase with MSR and I was very impressed with their service. I got a call about 9pm to verify the order was not fraudulent (got flagged in their system for some reason) and it shipped (actually tendered to the carrier, not just the tracking #) the next morning. I’ve added MSR to my list of suppliers!
