The storage-capable version of the flagship Magpul MOE SL™ carbine stock, the MOE SL-S (Storage) Stock is a direct replacement buttstock for AR15/M4 carbines.
The sleek profile, dual-side release latches, and waterproof battery tubes make it the slimmest storage tube stock available. The SL-S provides an enhanced cheek weld and true, O-ring sealed, 10m waterproof storage area desired by many, but fits it into the narrowest package possible to allow a more upright head position and minimize bulk. A rolled toe and angled rubber butt-pad are optimized for use with body armor, and an ambidextrous QD sling swivel socket is included. A unique leaf-spring tension system provides a solid fit on mil-spec receiver extensions, with slightly less friction than the original SL. The MOE SL-S is the most intuitive, comfortable, and efficient storage stock available.

Magpul pulled it off again. The SL-S has easily risen up to the top of my stock list. Previously that list consisted of Vltor EMod, LMT SOPMOD, and UBR Gen 2. So as you can see, this stock is in good company. One characteristic that sets this stock apart (and above) the EMod and LMT is how the battery caps are positioned. With LMT and the Vltor EMod, you need to remove the stock to access the battery compartment. Not so with the SL-S. IN that regard the SL-S is very similar to the Magpul STR. It has a sturdy rubber cap that seats very securely into the battery compartment. Like the Vltor and LMT, the SL-S has a pretty good cheek weld. It’s not as shallow of an angle as the LMT or Vltor, which really gives you more cheek contact, but it’s not bad at all. At this point I have 3 SL-S stocks. A pair on SBR’s and one on a Recce. It’s just a sold stock. In all 3 cases, the butt stock is on an A5 type RE tube. Two Vltor A5 buffer tubes, and one Magpul SR25/M110 intermediate tube. They both fit nice and secure. The stock has a QD socket on each side of the stock, but a place for a sling to be secured, old school style like we did in the Army with our M4’s. I highly recommend this stock. It is as well built as any of the previous stocks I’ve used. Lock up is just as solid, and it’s not a boat anchor. MSR Arms is GTG also. They are a rock solid company that has shipped faster than a jackrabbit with his hindquarters on fire.
