The AR-15 and AR-10 platforms have been around for quite a long time. Innovation over the recent years has stretched the imagination farther that most of us would have ever thought possible. Every year it seems like, against all odds, the industry comes up with more improvements or add-ons to enhance the capabilities of the platform. These variations range in price from the ultra-costly shiny new optics to the inexpensive cosmetic upgrades. One tiny upgrade from Patriot Ordnance Factory, or POF-USA, that won’t break the bank is the POF-USA Roller Cam Pin; and it can have a pretty large impact on the life of your firearm.
This little guy is made to replace the standard cam pin of your bolt carrier group (BCG) and extend the life of your upper receiver. The roller spins as the BCG moves back and forth through the upper receiver lessening the friction and ware on both parts.
The design is simple, and installation is easy. Strip the BCG just as you would for a field cleaning. Remove the cotter pin, remove the firing pin, rotate the old cam pin and pull it from the BCG and replace it with the new POF-USA Roller Cam Pin. Reverse the tear-down process and your ready to shoot. It’s pretty much as plug-and-play as you can get with a price tag of under $30. We love this innovation, especially since it’s so easy to upgrade almost any bolt carrier and it prolongs the life of your AR.
